Instructor: Margaret Kazancioglu, Certified English Language Specialist with over 30 years experience.

Is your child interested in words? Would you like him or her to practice for the Scripps Spelling Bee and learn new words? SCRATCH Jr. Coding (Gr. K-2 ) FEE: $150

Monday, 4:00-5:00 p.m. (6 sess.) Feb. 22 – Apr. 5 (no class 3/29)

Coding is the new literacy! With Scratch Jr, young children can program their own interactive stories and games. In the process, they learn to solve problems, design projects, and express themselves creatively on the computer. Scratch Jr. uses laptops and colorful blocks with pictures and doesn't require children to know reading.

Kids learn to create their own computer games and fun animations with SCRATCH using “drag and drop programing”. SCRATCH, developed by MIT, helps young kids to learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively - essential skills for life in the 21st century. We also have unique program that enable the kids to Control LEGO robots from SCRATCH! Color coded, intuitive drag and drop block programming, as well as sounds, backdrop images and drawings are used.

CARTOONING (Gr. K-2) FEE: $150

Make your drawings come to Life! Using just a pencil and paper, students will create their own custom characters in a step-by-step manner using basic shapes and guidelines.

CARTOONING (Gr. 3-5) FEE: $150

Thursday, 5:30-6:30 p.m.(6 sess.) Feb. 25 – Apr. 8 (no class Apr. 1)

Grab your pencil and let your imagination fly! Watch how simple shapes can be used to create your favorite cartoon characters. You will be shown the techniques needed so you can create your character from scratch. Enhance your illustration style and add to your tool box of drawing skills from a professional cartoonist and children’s book illustrator.

HOBBY QUEST VIRTUAL CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS

Airplanes Inventors After School Program      fee: $25

Join us to build your own aircrafts and delight as they soar overhead. Each student will build their own high-flying, balsa wood and motorized airplanes that climb to altitudes as high as 4-four stories. Just make sure to watch out for birds! Whether handling sharp maneuvers or sweeping through loops and curves, these models are sure to amaze. You will build each model from scratch and they are all yours to keep when they are shipped to you in your special supply kit!

Calling all Magicians and Clever Young Wizards– learn how to trick your friends and family!

Join us to become a fully practicing magician and learn to perform both stunning stage feats and dazzling close-up innovations! You’ll discover the magic secrets passed down only from magician to magician. From changing objects to mystic mind bogglers, we have several tricks to hide up both your sleeves. We'll learn to perform famous wonders such as making objects disappear from thin air, and then re-materialize again as if nothing had happened. Each trick is specially tailored to suit a young magician's unique talents. All the tricks you learn are yours to keep when they are shipped to you in your special supply kit!

Fashion Designers After School Program FEE: $25

Are you a trend setter? Then our all new fashion forward class is for you!

You can create one-of-a-kind wearable garments of your very own and make your design dreams a reality. We will teach you all that you need to know about garment design and creation, from choosing a design and sketching, to final fitting! This class is suitable for beginner to advanced-level designers, as we will be sewing by hand! All the designs you create are yours to keep when they are shipped to you in your special supply kit!

So, learn how to use your creative skills and get inspired during this fashion design experience like no other!

WIGGLE & GIGGLE (YOGA) FEE: $25

HELD OUTSIDE ON GODWIN SCHOOL GROUNDS

During this class your child will practice silly yoga poses, play fun and challenging yoga style games, learn simple poses, as well as calming breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. This class provides a fun filled way to cultivate self-esteem and body awareness while games refine cooperation and listening skills. Our goal is to develop strong minds and bodies in a relaxed, fun atmosphere!
